Opuha Water Ltd is a progressive infrastructure and irrigation Co-Operative company based in Pleasant Point, South Canterbury. We own and operate the Opuha Dam, Power Station, and associated irrigation distribution systems. We have been part of our local community for over 20 years now and have delivered significant environmental and community benefits over this time. About the Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the Business & Finance Team. As the Finance and Payroll Officer you will be responsible for:

  • Owning the Transactional Accounting Function
  • Maintaining Accurate Paper-Less Files & Financial Records
  • Creditor & Debtor Processing
  • Liaising with Customers & Suppliers on Invoice & Account Queries
  • Preparation of Monthly & Quarterly Financial Reports
  • Assistance in the development of the Annual Budget with the Business Manager
  • HR Administration Support
  • Processing and Ownership of Payroll (21 in total, including Directors)
  • Regulatory Compliance including FBT and GST
  • Assist other internal teams for financial & accounting

This role is part time, for between 25 – 30hrs per week

About you:

  • First and Foremost you must have a great attitude and work well as part of a team, we value our amazing culture here at Opuha Water and so it’s important that you’re a great fit for our team!
  • Proven ability across management accounting, tax and financial report
  • Accounting Qualification and/or equivalent industry experience (3 years +)
  • Proficient with Xero or similar cloud-based accounting systems
  • Proficient in HR/Payroll Functions
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • Strong analytical and Problem-Solving Skills, with a keen eye for detail
  • Ability to quickly assimilate to new systems & processes
  • Be willing to develop professionally and be open to learning new things
  • Ability to apply discretion in dealing with sensitive & confidential information
  • Be organised and ability to manage multiple work streams concurrently.
